Chorenji Temple

A temple associated with Kurashiki’s Edo-period magistracy and home to a memorial tablet for Tokugawa Ieyasu.

The temple is traditionally described as a branch of Entsūji, which was restored by Kokusen Dainin, the Zen teacher of poet-monk Ryōkan. Its connection with the magistrates and the religious objects in the grounds recall Kurashiki’s period under direct shogunal rule.
