Privacy policy

Location
Location is used for the map, distance calculations and nearby suggestions. KuraWalk does not store precise location or movement history in its servers, D1 database or submissions. Core information remains available when location access is denied.
On-device storage
Favorites and limited map preferences are stored in LocalStorage. The PWA uses a service worker and Cache Storage for pages and static files. KuraWalk does not currently use IndexedDB. You can remove this data through your browser settings.
Place information and contact
For place-information reports and corrections, KuraWalk stores the information entered, such as the place name, report type, relationship to the place, reference URLs, address, description and optional contact email. For general inquiries, it stores the inquiry type, subject, message and optional contact email. Do not submit unnecessary personal data such as a name, phone number or precise location.
Purpose
Submission data is used only to investigate place information, assess corrections, handle inquiries, detect duplicates and control spam. In Production, after the data is stored in D1, part of the submitted content is sent through Cloudflare email to the operator’s verified destination so that new submissions are not missed. It is not published as submitted. Place facts are checked against official sources.
Retention
Reports assessed as rejected or duplicates become eligible for periodic deletion 90 days after receipt. Contact email in unresolved reports or inquiries becomes eligible for periodic deletion 180 days after receipt. Contact email in a report converted to a place candidate becomes eligible for periodic deletion 30 days after conversion. Factual verification audit records are retained and their continued need is reviewed around one year after receipt.
Spam protection
KuraWalk uses Cloudflare for site delivery, data processing, reliable operation and security. In doing so, Cloudflare may process communications data such as IP addresses, traffic routing data and device or system configuration information. KuraWalk does not store raw IP addresses in D1; it uses an ephemeral hash that expires after about two hours to apply submission rate limits. This policy will be updated if Turnstile is enabled.
External services
External services, including official sites and Google Maps, apply their own policies. Google Maps links open a location and are not treated as official factual sources. Public Wi-Fi information comes from open data; KuraWalk does not monitor your connection.
Ads, analytics and affiliate links
Advertising, analytics and affiliate features are currently disabled. Before activation, this policy will identify providers, cookies or similar technologies, purposes, external transmission, opt-out choices and required consent. Precise GPS data will not be sent for ads or analytics.
Operator and contact
KuraWalk is an independent service and is not operated by Kurashiki City or a tourism association. Use the Place information and contact page to contact the operator.
Changes
This page and its update date will be revised when data handling changes. Material changes will be communicated in a clear manner.
