Kurashiki Observatory
Japan's first private astronomical observatory, established in 1926 for the purpose of public observation.
Booking
Advance booking required
It was opened by Sumiharu Hara to spread astronomical knowledge, and is the base where Minoru Honda discovered many comets and novae. Viewing parties are still held in the new observation room, but reservations must be made at least one week in advance of the desired date and will be canceled in case of bad weather.
